I love most trek! But I haven't been able to get into
Enterprise though. All the other shows (including the animated series) are fantastic! I have all of tng and ds9 on dvd. Both of those weren't too pricy. It's voyager over here that's so damned high.

I loved aspects of all of them, though I'd have to agree that Ent didn't live up. I'm told towards the end it got better again, but by that point I stopped watching.
Actually in some ways, I think my favorite was tos, but that's probably partially because it's what I saw first. I have all of Tos and DS9 here. I'm lacking almost all of TNG though. I've never actually seen the animated series, something I'll get around to fixing someday.

DS9 I think was the best out of all them. The original series is OK but too slow and too visual have the time. The next generation was fine, and voyager's OK. Haven't seen enterprise and based on people's reactions I haven't missed anything.

I never could get into Voyager or Enterprise, but I love the rest. DS9 is my fave.

The trend seems to be that nobody around here was very enthusiastic about Enterprise. I thought it was a great idea to do the prequal, but it left me feeling unsatisfied. Having said that, I really enjoyed all the series. Hard to pick a fave between next gen, voyager, and ds9. I'm waiting for the movie that I hear is scheduled to be out in September of this year.

I've seen most of the shows but I'd have to say Voyager is myfavorite.

I love all of the series, but I have a soft spot for TNG because it was the one that got me into star trek. But ds9 certainly was great season 3 onwards. Enterprise didn't hold my attention, but I heard it got good later on so I'm trying to get into it on the Sci-Fi channel on monday nights. I also can't wait for the next movie.

I love the original startrek first. To me that was the best. I then Loved Voyager. I love reading the books from all series. I also collect signed startrek items, and cards sets. At one time I had this huge ship hanging above my couch.

Is there a bit of a gender divide? Most of the female Trekkers (for that is we) I have known really favoured Voyager, whereas DS9 comes off favourite with the fellas. I can't watch TOS because it really doesn't hold my attention; early TNG goes by the wayside for the same reason and it doesn't get any good until Gene Roddenberry was (unfortunately) no longer around.

It was actually an accidental viewing of the pilot of DS9 that really got me into Star Trek, and while the early series took a little time to find its way, once the Dominion, Jem'Hadar and the conflict builds up, there is nothing to touch this spin-off. The characters actually make you want to know what happens to them and they develop well (obviously some of this is based on TNG and earlier). Added to this some of the twists (the 1950s episode where the actors are out of make-up, for example) and I could watch it over and over. I don't, but I could lol

Voyager has very few episodes that interested me, and Enterprise was doomed from the start because there was just too much Trek around! It did get infinitely better once it got cancelled, however the finale was rushed and predictable.

The eleventh Star Trek film is due out this year but appears to be being directed by J.J. Abrams (responsible for Lost). It also seems it will centre around the Kirk-era. Two reasons that will definitely temper my anticipation. But I am prepared to be wrong ...

well as I posted earlier, I like ds9 more so than voyager. And I'm a girl. I thought that the ds9 characters were more real. Not always doing the right thing. They were more human.

Hmm. Jen, that's an interesting take on DS9. I didn't think of it, and have to agree with you. Toward the end, so much was good and eveil based in the series. Now, I'm thinking about how good preveiled inspite of the negative consequences of the heroes' behaviors. Thanks for this take.

Hi, all. The original series is good, but I just can't quite get into it. Too cheesy for me, though I do admit that they did very well, given the budget and effects they had back in the 60's. Next Gen is my favorite of the series, though Dusty is absolutely right, it finally hit its stride in the third season, when Roddenberry was gone. After TNG, I like Voyager. DS9 and Enterprise are my least favorite. Sisco just didn't do it for me in DS9, and the new Dax was absolutely terrible once they lost Jadzia. Enterprise was great in theory, not so great as a show. and I didn't even know there was an animated series. Does it use already existing characters, or make up new ones?

The annamated series has some of the original carictors from the original show plus a couple of new ones. It was in the 70's but forgot the year. I actually found the entire set on video. There were 23 shows made but for some reason episode 13 is missing. I will have to try DS 9 again, I did like the first couple of years.

slight ds9 spoiler warning

DS9 had a lot of cliffhangers and shocking plot twists. That would've been so frustrating to wait until the following week just to continue a three part episode. Especially twards the end when the kai went bad. lol. i mean, not that she was too nice to begin with...

Okay, hold the presses, I don't care what anybody says in any other board or thread anywhere! I just want to tag and bookmark post number 13. Or more specifically, the part which states "Dusty is absolutely right". I'll be saving that one up for every argument I have from this point forward, particularly if I'm absent-minded enough to get married! Thankyou SisterDawn, you're my new best friend hee hee

if anyone cares, I found a site for tv shows that has, among other showss tos, tng, ds9, voyager, enterprise, and the animated series. Now they don't have every episode of every show, but there's a good amount. The site is
www.surfthechannel.com
Hope this helps those who haven't seen the animated series.

holy smokes! I forgot about this thread, came back two months later after coming back on here again and its absolutely chocker! I gotta say DS9 was always my fave, voyager pissed me off because . well I dunno but at the end it was just a bit flat, TOS did my head in as someone said it was quite visual and all the rest of it and TNG . well they really should have shot more people.
Thanks for that site by the way!

** Possible spoiler alert **

I've just had a look at the information for the new Star Trek film (provisionally titled "Star Trek: Zero"). It now appears that it will be released in May 2009 (in the UK) and the cast includes Eric Bana (from "Hulk"), Winona Ryder and Simon Pegg (British actor/comedian, been on our screens for years). Leonard Nimoy is also on the cast list playing Spock, though there are two actors playing that character, so no doubt there'll be the compulsory Star Trek time paradox ...

Post 21 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 20-Jun-2008 18:29:55

Hahaha, Dusty, you're welcome for Post 13. I just came back and saw this thread, even though it hasn't been updated in an age and a half. Wow, are they planning to have any of the original actors besides Nimoy in the new Trek movie? the ones from the Original series are aging, or in the case of DeForest Kelly, dead, and I imagine the actors from the later series have probably moved on by now, though they'll always be known for their Star Trek roles. I didn't think too highly of the last Trek movie, and I'm not sure I like the sound of what they're doing with this one. Though of course as a fan I'll at least have to check it out when it's released. I can't bitch about it if I don't see it. LOL.

well, I know Spock's father in real life died. The character was played by Mark Leonard. Scotty is also dead. Lou

Oh finally! A topic devoted to Star Trek.
Awesome show, by the way. I've seen all of TOS, and a few episodes here and there of Voyager and TNG.
I need to start watching it again.
